There are several web APIs that allow you to store data locally on the user’s device, some that even allow working with large datasets. But for large local datasets, there are currently some challenges related to the functionality of current APIs and how easy it can be for the user’s data to inadvertently be deleted, whether by accident or by some automated background cleanup by the browser to save space. In this talk I will discuss the current state of PWAs using large amounts of local data, as well as look to the future for how the situation could be improved.

    Indie Video Game Developer

I’ve been making websites since I was a kid in the late 90s. Back in the early days of HTML5 I saw the web as the platform of the future. So in 2012, as a hobby project, I started working on a web-based sports simulation video game called Basketball GM. Today, Basketball GM has grown into a sophisticated app with a large enough user base to let me work on web-based video games full time as the owner and only employee of my video game development company, ZenGM.
